Vaccines
Vaccines contain inactive or dead micro-organisms that resemble a disease causing micro-organism. When injected into the body, the vaccine stimulates the body's immune system to recognize the disease causing micro-organism as a threat and destroy it.
Vaccinations are the most effective method of preventing infectious diseases. Widespread immunity due to vaccination is largely responsible for the eradication of smallpox, polio, measles, and tetanus.
Vaccines are regulated by the FDA and undergo a rigorous review before being released to the public.
